Forum Rules:
1. We encourage an atmosphere of respect on this forum and we expect you to comply with this. People come here to get involved with the drama of Westeros, not OOC drama. If you have a problem with someone, message an admin about it and they will deal with the problem as they see fit. Though sometimes debates will break out over various aspects of the story and characters. These are okay, but we ask that you keep all arguments respectful without getting personal or angry.
Character Rules:
1. Please be sure to read all the rules, the plot, and the character before applying for a character.
2. We are currently NOT accepting original characters. There are many minor canon characters, you could develop on if you so wish for that. Though there are some exceptions to this rule. We are currently accepting OC Skagosi and Dothraki, and any others that may help to flesh out current plots. (Though be sure to ask before making an application for one.)
3. You may have a max of TWO characters on this forum.
4. The second character becomes available to those who are active and have at least 65 posts (subject to change.)
5. If you do not follow all the activity rules, your character(s) may be given to someone else.
6. Be sure you have a good understanding of a character before you apply for them. If you don't seem to understand a character, you may be advised to take another.
7. You may not take a character that is dead towards the middle of 'A Clash of Kings.' That means no Eddard, no Rhaegar, no Renly.
8. If you apply for a character, you may be asked a number of questions about the characters by an admin, to ensure you understand the role and to understand where you want to take the character in our plot.
Roleplay Rules:
1. We do not currently have a minimum word count, but we generally expect AT LEAST 250 words from a roleplay post.
2. We ask you use good grammar, punctuation, and structuring in your posts. Don't be offended if someone offers you some tips in this regard.
3. You must roleplay in the third-person, using quotation for speaking and italics for direct thought, as is the style of GRRM's epic series.
4. We are an intermediate/advanced roleplay site. If we ask you to add more detail to a post, or apply for a different character, please do not take offence. People come here for fun, and an incorrectly portrayed character can ruin that.
5. Do not change your character's personality to suit your own style. You must stay true to the character that GRRM (not D&D) has created. If you roleplay as Samwell Tarly, you can't suddenly have him become an amazing fighter/badass armed with a Valyrian steel sword and killer one-liners with ladies falling all over him. Of course, as this forum goes beyond the currently written books, a character will develop and grow, but try to keep this as realistic as possible. Again, do not take offence if we ask you to change characters.
6. We ask that you don't do all those usual roleplay taboos, such as godmoding or metagaming. If you have any questions about this, please ask a member of staff.
7. This is a A Song of Ice and Fire roleplay, so death is to be expected and wholly encouraged. But if you roleplay your character's death, they stay dead. We ask that you discuss this with both the roleplayers and the staff before you kill off your character.-The secret code is 'Frey Pie'-If your character dies you may immediately apply for another one. Note: If you decide you no longer want a character, you can just retire him/her and switch. You don't have to kill off your character.
8. Combat is also an important part of this world. We do not use dice rolls or any other such things on this site. We encourage the two (or more) roleplayers to discuss who will win, then roleplay the fight. This means they can focus on making effective roleplay and not godmoding the fight. It will also lead to less arguments in the long-run. If you have difficulty coming to a resolution, ask a member of staff for help.
Activity/Absences Rules:
1. You must be active! That means posting regularly, and not just logging on. If you have no one to roleplay with, post in the Wanted Ads, do a past roleplay, or write up something in the Free Roleplay section of the site.
2. After one week of inactivity you will receive a warning through PM. If you aren't active for another week, your account will be deleted.
3. New members have two weeks to prove activity or the account will be deleted.
4. If something happens IRL that will prevent you from being active, tell us in the "Away" board how long you intend to be away for.
